Ron Lee Technology Grant 
Ron Lee, creator of http://www.rong-chang.com/ and http://www.eslfast.com/ websites and a variety of mobile apps has generously offered to give a technology award of $1,000 to an ESL teacher who is a CATESOL member with a positive attitude towards using educational technology. This award will be given annually and allows the awardee to innovate and create using technology with their students. Note that the awardee will need to furnish a completed W-9 prior to receiving the check.
Congratulations to Catherine Datko, recipient of the Ron Lee Technology Award for 2018. Catherine has worked as a faculty instructional designer in the California Community College system for five years. Currently she is teaching English as a Second Language at Pasadena City College. Her project is to develop an online course and e-textbook for a transfer-level community college writing class. She is creating the course under Creative Commons 4.0 non-commercial license, so it will be available for other instructors to utilize and adapt to their teaching context. The e-textbook component of her project will include images, interactive videos, and annotations, and will be an Open Education Resource. She is piloting the project this spring and fall.
Congratulations to Denise Maduli-Williams, assistant professor of ESOL and English at Miramar College! Denise is the winner of the $1,000 Ron Lee Technology Award for 2017.  Her passion is educational technology, which she enthusiastically integrates into all of her classes.
