CATESOL Level Award for Full-Time & Part-Time ESL Teachers ​

  • K-12 Professional Development Award
    Sponsored by National Geographic Learning
    This award honors an individual teaching ELs in K-12 with $500 for an original lesson plan that demonstrates excellence in teaching.

CATESOL Education Foundation Sponsored Memorial Awards

  • Rick Sullivan Registration Grant 
    This CATESOL Foundation grant covers annual conference registration costs for CATESOL members currently in graduate school.​

  • Gail Weinstein Memorial Award
    ​This $300 award honors a CATESOL member who works with immigrant learners in a community-based adult ESL classroom context and who integrates story sharing in classroom teaching.​

  • Gordon Johnson Membership Grant 
    Two part-time teachers currently teaching ESL in California will receive a one-year membership to CATESOL to encourage their ongoing interest in professional development.

  • Joseph O'Loughlin Memorial Grant 
    This new special grant award focuses on creating a study group for four to five K-12 teachers per year. The goal is to help K-12 teachers to work with their ELD students who have had interrupted education and therefore gaps in their learning.  This applies to refugees and also now to distance learning.  The study group looks at various techniques to use in the classroom with remote learning applications.

Prior to payment of any award, grant, or stipend, our Board of Directors will check individuals on the OFAC sanctions list.  The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions based on US foreign policy and national security goals against targeted foreign countries and regimes, terrorists, international narcotics traffickers, those engaged in activities related to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and other threats to the national security, foreign policy or economy of the United States.
